GENERAL SANTOS CITY (23 April 2015) – The recent Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) national survey placed the local government unit of General Santos City (LGU-GSC) among the most effective LGUs in delivering its services to the people.
During the presentation of the 2014 CSIS Implementation results on April 14-17 in Mandaluyong City, it was revealed that Gensan ranked 5th in the Citizens’ Awareness category, with a rating of 56.93. The LGU of Iriga (81.85) followed by Roxas (64.35) got the first and second place, respectively.
LGU Gensan also placed 5th (74.66) in the cities with high health service satisfaction, with Iriga (82.57) and Batac (79.77) on the top spot.
Other service areas of LGU Gensan also received high ratings, such as social welfare (71.88), education (67.20), and agriculture (61.20).
These ratings were based on the standardized scoring scheme set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the CSIS.
City Mayor Ronnel Rivera affirmed the results of the latest CSIS and vowed to continue and improve the performance of the local government.
“I am happy that these results have indeed confirmed that our efforts in bringing services to our people are indeed felt by them. The local government unit is committed in doing its best to give what our constituents need and deserve,” Mayor Rivera said.
On February 19, Mayor Rivera, with the DILG, City Hall department heads, and other partner agencies, signed an oath of commitment to further advance the reach of the services they give to the public.
In the CLEAN Gensan (Creating a Livable Environment for All Generals towards Nation-building) agenda of Mayor Rivera, he indicated the three local government services he wants to improve: education, health, and modified social services.
Apparently, these are also the areas that scored the highest in the 2014 CSIS report.
The CSIS, which is managed by the DILG and operated by its partner institutions, is a strategic scheme launched in 2013 to know the citizens’ perception on the performance of their LGUs, including the reach and quality of public services and decision-making policies.
In Gensan, the CSIS survey was conducted last 2014 by the research department of the Mindanao State University – General Santos City.
Prior to this award, LGU Gensan has also received a Child-friendly Seal award from the DILG and the Commission for the Welfare of Children. (Gensan CPIO/ Ian John Lagare)
