Silway Bridge reopens to light vehicles

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (30 June 2014) – City Mayor Ronnel Rivera and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council action officer Bong Dacera  (left) inspect the Silway River Monday, June 30, to assess the damage caused by heavy flooding last Sunday (June 29). The City Engineers' Office (CEO) reported that there are scouring on the dikes of Silway Bridge. Traffic at the bridge is limited to light vehicles (2,500kg and below) until it will be finally repaired by the CEO and the Department of Public Works and Highways as ordered by Mayor Rivera. The momentary closure of the bridge had caused a massive traffic jam at the national highway on Monday morning. (GENSAN CPIO/Russell Delvo)
