GENERAL SANTOS CITY (23 February 2014) – Department of Education- General Santos (DepEd – GenSan) OIC Schools Division Superintendent Gildo Mosqueda through Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Mario Bermudez has lauded City Mayor Ronnel Rivera's education advocacy.
Mosqueda is the new division superintendent replacing former SDS Diosdado Ablanido who was transferred to DepEd - Sarangani.
The Assistant SDS said that Mosqueda is aware that one of Mayor Rivera’s top priorities in his CLEAN Gensan (Creating a Livable Environment for All Generals towards Nation building) initiative is the advancement of education of the public schools of GenSan.
The AKLAT (Alay sa Kabataang Generals Lahat ng Alaga at Talino) Office was created under the CLEAN GenSan to handle all educational programs of Mayor Rivera.
As of now, the AKLAT has already launched the AKLAT: ECCDI (Alay sa Kabataang Generals Lahat ng Alaga at Talino: Early Chilldhood Care Development Initiative) that will service universal access to quality early child care programs to all daycare centers in the city.
Bermudez also informed Mosqueda that the city mayor also initiated his PTA and Armchair Donation in all public elementary and secondary academes in GenSan to address the inadequacies of armchairs.
An updated report given by DepEd states that the total insufficiency of armchairs has already reached 14,000, but the city mayor has given his word to take care of the problem.
In turn, Mosqueda has expressed his gratitude for the assertiveness of Rivera in improving education in General Santos which the former fully supports.
“We really appreciate the Mayor sa pagtugon niya sa panginahanglang nato sa edukasyon,” Bermudez stated.
An official installation of Mosqueda will take place sometime this year in the presence of DepEd 12 Director Allan Farnazo.
Bermudez said that the transition is a part of DepEd’s regular shuffling of all SDS in the country to create dynamism and diversification on their organizational system.
Bermudez stated that as of now, the new SDS has not yet disclosed any plans for the educational sector and its stakeholders, but the former assured that he will closely coordinate with the city government, specifically with Mayor Rivera in the implementation of DepEd programs.
