GENERAL SANTOS CITY (7 January 2014) - To service local entrepreneurs and businessmen more efficiently, the local government of General Santos City rolled out a faster version of the one-stop-shop for business permit renewal and registration this year.
Jocelym Bason, liaison officer of IHI Turbo International, a car accessory maintenance center, noticed the improvement of the one-stop-shop of the local government this year. She said, “last year, we had a hard time renewing our business permits because of crowded lines caused by unsystematic and unorganized placement of booths. This year, the local government did well since everything went smooth for us.”
City Permits and Licenses Division Head Geraldine Zamora said this year's one-stop-shop is the fastest and most comprehensive version compared to the previous ones.
According to Zamora, her office has already renewed 48 business permits on its third day.
“We are doing better now compared last year, where we couldn’t even process a single
business permit on our first week,” Zamora stated.
business permit on our first week,” Zamora stated.
Zamora emphasized that the improvement of the one-stop-shop this year is due to the support of the current administration led by City Mayor Ronnel Rivera.
She added the local government worked hard to integrate the Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the one-stop-shop this year.
Aside from DOLE and PESO, the government offices that are regularly present during
the one-stop-shop are Social Security System, PAGIBIG, PHILHEALTH, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Fire Protection, Land Tax, Office of Building Official, City Engineer’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office, and City Social Welfare and Development Office. (GENSAN INFO OFFICE/Ian John M. Lagare)
