GENERAL SANTOS CITY (01 August 2013) - “Clean GenSan,” this was the call of City Mayor Ronnel Rivera as he rallies for support under his continuing campaign for change in the city.
The statement which means, “Creating a Liveable Environment for All and the Nation in Gensan”, aims to synchronize all efforts of the local government units (LGU) in the city towards a city that is both globally competitive and liveable.
In a speech given by the mayor during the culmination of 39th Nutrition Month Celebration by the City Health Office (CHO) Tuesday (July 30), he outlined his plans to put “synergy” in all actions of the local officials - regardless of party affiliations - towards moves that are geared to “to establish confidence from the public” in their LGU.
City Administrator Atty. Arnel Zapatos, appearing before the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod on the other hand, was quick to dispel the fears of some “hardliners” saying that the mayor’s call for a “Clean GenSan” is not aimed at replacing the city’s standing “Magandang Gensan” theme.
The city administrator said that “Clean GenSan” will be the spirit by which the Executive and Legislative Agenda (ELA) will be crafted around on.
It can be remembered that Mayor Rivera and Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles promised that they will come up with an ELA so that the city will have a common goal to strive for.
Rivera for his part also thanked the public for their continuing trust and support saying that the citizens are integral part of the city in effecting change and to achieving a “Clean GenSan.” (GENSAN INFO OFFICE/Ian John Lagare)
