GENERAL SANTOS CITY (29 November 2013) – Some 15 high school students from different schools in General Santos City were selected by the Youth Affairs and Development Office (YADO) of the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) to become the 15th batch of junior officials in General Santos City last November 25.
Brian Anthony Peralta and Jessa Marie Ng, both from General Santos Hope Christian School, were elected as the junior counterparts of City Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Vice Mayor Shirlyn Banas Nograles, respectively.
Other junior officials are Justine Ivan Floren (Shalom Crest Wizard Academy), Omegas Gryeane Solis (GSC SPED Integrated School), Raechel Victoria Panerio (MSU-CETD), Andrew Antonio Gesulga III (NDDU-IBED Espina), Kyra Vashlie Cue (General Santos Hope Christian School), Kristine Abegail Asug (NDDU-IBED Lagao), Dianne Kristie Anislag (Notre Dame Siena College of GSC), Bernadette Herceda (GSC SPED Integrated School), Alen Bea Ducao (MSU-CETD), Hazel Lenn Ruiz (NDDU-IBED Lagao), Hannah Katrina Cartojano (Shalom Crest Wizard Academy), Andrea Camille Perales (General Santos Hope Christian School), Pearl Jane Dinasas (GSC SPED Integrated School), and Adrian Paul Cariaga (NDDU-IBED Lagao Campus).
“I am honored and thankful to be elected as a junior official this year, and I want to take this opportunity to learn more from the local officials of the city,” according to Ng.
When asked if she will pursue a political career in the future, Ng just smiled and said she will first pursue a career in business and time would tell if she will enter politics.
Since 1992, the city of Gen. Santos through the YADO has been selecting exemplary high school students to become junior officials of General Santos City in its aim to promote youth leadership and education.
Mer Cequina, supervisor of the junior officials said that the program has already produced competent individuals, not only in public service but also in some other fields.
Mayor Rivera also said he was very glad that the youth of the city were joining City Hall as junior officials.
He added that the same Executive Legislative Agenda (ELA) that his administration will also be included in the plans and functions of the junior officials including also his banner program “CLEAN Gensan” (Creating A Livable Environment for All toward Nation Building).
