GENERAL SANTOS CITY (14 January 2014) - To strengthen the disaster preparedness of the city, City Mayor Ronnel Rivera as the chairperson of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) convenes the local government department heads and representatives from other government offices Thursday, January 9, to introduce the new structure of CDRRMC in response to the looming threats of natural and man-made disasters. The restructuring included the partition of CDRRMC into four sectors: Disaster Prevention & Mitigation, Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Response and Disaster Rehabilitation. Dr. Bong Dacera, action officer of the CDRRMC, also discussed with the stakeholders in the meeting the proposed plans and projects aligned to the recent data given by the French Development Agency (FDA) that highlights areas in the disaster management in the city that are needed to be improved.
