GENERAL SANTOS CITY (15 August 2013) - The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy about five hundred (500) personnel and elements from the Joint Task Force GenSan (JTF-Gensan), Civil Security Unit (CSU), and Barangay Tanods to secure the activities of the 15th Tuna Festival next month.
This was disclosed by P/Supt. Roel Berrango, deputy for operations of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) during Wednesday’s (August 14) press conference.
“All activities will be covered by security forces to ensure the safety of the people,” Berango added.
He also said that the PNP has already conducted a series of meetings with JTF-GenSan, the CSU and other force multipliers to discuss the security plans that they will implement during the festivities.
Meanwhile, City Councilor Shandee Llido, chair of the Committee for Tourism of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said that security is indeed a major concern but she is confident that the PNP will come out with an effective security plan.
