Early childhood care and development one of City Hall’s top agenda


GENERAL SANTOS CITY (25 February 2014) - City Administrator Atty. Arnel Zapatos meets with representatives of Department of Education - GenSan and City Social Welfare and Development Office Monday, February 24, in an inter-agency orientation of Alay sa Kabataang Generals Lahat ng Alaga at Talino: Early Childhood Care and Development Initiative (AKLAT:ECCDI). As the city administrator declared, the AKLAT:ECCDI is an initiative by City Mayor Ronnel Rivera in a challenge to make children 3 to 5 years old able to read before they will enter primary education. Also, Zapatos divulged that in the coming months, the AKLAT office will launch the "Community Teach" that would engage teachers and parents in mentoring and feeding program in day care centers.
