Mayor Rivera helps disaster victims


GENERAL SANTOS CITY (21 April 2014) - City Mayor Ronnel Rivera (in dark shirt) and Dr. Bong Dacera, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) Action Officer, inspect the aftermath of a twister that struck Barangay Tinagacan Sunday afternoon,  April 20. The CDRRMC reported that as of 3:00pm of Monday, April 21, there are 136 families affected from eight puroks of Tinagacan while there are three persons injured. Twenty-two houses were destroyed. Mayor Rivera has instructed the social welfare, engineering and disaster risk reduction management offices to provide food, water, clothing and other basic needs to the affected families. The mayor also directed the city engineer to immediately reconstruct the destroyed houses mainly made of light materials, and other infrastructures. The financial assistance for the victims will be taken directly from the calamity fund of the city. (GENSAN CPIO/Russell Delvo)
